NCVO Ghana Collaborates with Partnership Bureau to Launch the First Africa Non-Profit Summit

There are several nonprofit summits in Europe and America but hardly can you point out one in Africa. This is why NCVO Ghana and Partnership Bureau are collaborating to bring out the first Africa Non-Profit Summit.

The 2024 Summit will focus on legal and organizational management issues in response to pressing challenges faced by players in mainly Ghana and some parts of Africa.

The Challenge:

In 2021, the Government of Ghana introduced the mandatory NPO License to promote transparency and build donor confidence within the non-profit sector. While the goal of this initiative was to strengthen the sector, more than half of non-profit organizations, particularly smaller NGOs and community-based organizations, are struggling to meet the requirements needed to obtain this license. This has posed significant operational challenges ranging from credibility to fundraising. Beyond licensing, nonprofit organizations in Ghana and across Africa face substantial barriers to effective collaboration, hindering their ability to maximize collective impact and sustainability.

The Opportunity:

By convening over 150 influential nonprofit leaders and stakeholders (public, corporate, and political leaders), the Africa NPO Summit 2024 presents a dynamic platform for addressing the sector's topical challenges. Through engaging discussions, expert-led workshops, and invaluable networking opportunities, we will update NGOs on NPO directives, ask regulators questions, and rapidly prototype ideas for collaboration and partnership. The summit will also produce a comprehensive "Instructional Guide & Collaboration Playbook" that will empower nonprofits to navigate licensing requirements, optimize organizational management, and forge sustainable partnerships for long-term impact.

What to Expect:

  • Engaging Discussions: Tailored plenary discussions offering unique insights into the challenges and opportunities of running a nonprofit in Africa.

  • Expert-Led Workshops: Four key impact workshops focusing on NPO directives 2020, Non-profit organizations' legal and tax compliance, effective organizational management, and collaborating for sustainable impact.

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with key stakeholders and build meaningful partnerships to drive positive change across Africa.

  • Brand Visibility: Enhance your recognition as a champion of social impact and sustainable development in Africa.

  • Thought Leadership: Position your organization as a thought leader in the non-profit sector, shaping the future of collaborative efforts.

Date and Venue:

The event will happen on 15th May, 2024 at the ISSER Hall inside the University of Ghana, Legon Campus.
